Things have mostly settled in for me. I'm still applying to things, still getting a steady stream of rejection (and occasional acceptance). Now that I've been accepted for a couple projects and interviews, I've had to actually do the promised work.
This month has been pretty busy!
Cartoonists United
After joining Cartoonists United (formerly known as the Cartoonists' Co-Op), I signed up for whatever projects I could. This month, I made two social media illustrations advertising an upcoming event, and made progress regarding a secret project in the works. I hope to continue to contribute wherever I can to this lovely organization... but not right now. I'm all tuckered out trying to juggle everything I signed up for this month, and I miss having the joy, time and energy for all my personal projects.
Jake Lockley's Taxi Adventures Is Now Online!
Speaking of personal projects, the fanfiction I'd been working on to keep me sane during senior thesis has finally been published to Ao3!! As of writing, I've got four chapters completely finished and two chapters drafted (of ten total). This work is very exciting and close to my heart because it's my first time writing a fic with multiple chapters! If I can complete this, it'll be a big personal accomplishment. Already I'm noticing my prose improve as I write.
It feels a bit silly advertising this using my serious-serious, professional newsletter I've tied to my real name, but it's something I'm proud of and it's art I've made this month. Read at your own peril; It's a crossover fic where each episode is set in the back of Moon Knight Jake Lockley's taxi. Each episode features a different Marvel character -- Daredevil, Deadpool, Spider-Man, etc.
Chapters are posted weekly on Sundays -- at some point, I imagine I'll probably have to take a break to rebuild my backlog or prioritize real-world stuff? But for now the thrill of the deadline keeps me writing. A good thing, since I keep resisting the urge to write, only to be shocked by how much fun I'm having once I sit my butt on the chair and try it.

Things I've Been Up to That Isn't Art, but Still Tangentially Related:
- I attended Minneapolis SpringCon earlier this month! So much fun seeing and connecting with all the different artists. I didn't have much budget to work with, so I mostly went on a business card scavenger hunt and bought a couple of zines I liked. I plan on potentially being a vendor there, so visiting was a great way to scope the place out. Plus, everyone was so friendly :)
- I've been cleaning out my room in preparation for moving -- my plan is to whittle my possessions down to what fits in the one room. That way, moving will hopefully be less of a headache.
- I've been learning how to garden! I bought three basil plants earlier this month, and slowly yet surely I've been figuring out how to keep them healthy and happy. Once I get the hang of basil, I plan on moving onto tomatoes, then... the world! I've had access to a lot of fresh vegetables lately, so figuring out how to cook them has been a wonderful challenge.
